Capture the experience! Add Screen Recording to your application
TechSmith Introduces Camtasia Screen Recorder SDK
Chicago, Illinois, April 24, 2001 -- TechSmith Corporation announces the release of the Camtasia Screen Recorder SDK,
a screen camcorder software development kit for Windows developers designed to easily incorporate screen recording
functionality into an application. The Camtasia Screen Recorder SDK will be released April 25, 2001. TechSmith, the
leader in the screen capture software field, has drawn on its extensive experience to offer Camtasia's technology in SDK form.
The Camtasia suite of tools easily makes movies of anything you see on your screen and records, edits and publishes
the high desktop fidelity videos. Camtasia records your on-screen movements and actions as a desktop video. Any activity
that requires a recording of on-screen movement and actions can benefit. For example, trainers use it to create
professional videos for computer-based instruction, software marketers use it to create broadcast-quality product
demos and sales presentations and Web designers use it to create narrated tours of Web site designs.
The Camtasia Screen Recorder SDK is an effective way to integrate, customize and extend Camtasia's technology
to fit your specific application needs. TechSmith's experience and reputation ensures that Camtasia Screen
Recorder SDK offers the ultimate in high performance, flexibility and ease of use. The recorder control is
built from the core capture engine used by TechSmith for over three years and contains features to obtain the
highest possible capture frame rates and most efficient use of system resources. The Camtasia Screen Recorder
SDK provides both a low level Windows DLL API as well as a completely self-contained 100% ATL based ActiveX
control. The SDK components can run on any Win 32 platform (Windows 9x/Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000 or later).
It supports Visual Basic, Visual C++, C++Builder, and any language that can call a DLL or use an Active X control.
Many applications benefit from having the capability to record and share valuable content that cannot be
captured by any other method. The Camtasia Screen Recorder SDK can add a video report or presentation creation
feature to any application. For example, a CAD vendor may not have included on-screen recording capability in
a CAD program. By integrating the recording features in the Camtasia Screen Recorder SDK, CAD users can record
and annotate their designs, including animation and motion simulations. Users can then share their designs
and explanations with anyone, whether they are CAD engineers or people who have never used a CAD program.
The Camtasia SDK allows your applications and users to record and share their valuable content and knowledge.
"Camtasia Screen Recorder SDK is not only easy to use, but also has many applications," said TechSmith
president William Hamilton. "Its use for activities like distance learning, desktop monitoring and conferencing
make it particularly valuable. Developers and users will appreciate both its utility and reliability."
The cost of a development license of the Camtasia Screen Recorder SDK is $399 which allows one programmer to
install the SDK on one computer for use in the development of end-user applications. A distribution license
is required for deployment. A royalty free distribution site license option is available. One single user
copy of Camtasia is included with purchase of a Development License. Free e-mail and Web based support is provided.
