Adding a Callout to your Project

  • While in the Callout Properties task page, position the seekbar where you want to insert the callout.

  • From the Callout Type dropdown menu, choose the Callout type.

  • Pick one of the available styles shown in thumbnail view underneath the Callout Type field.

  • Watch your callout change in the preview area as you adjust the Fill and Border color and add text to your callout.

  • You can adjust the position and the size of your callout in the Preview Area. Simply click and drag the Callout to move it or to resize it.

  • Use the Properties to fade your callout in and out, as well as to add a Drop Shadow and adjust the Opacity.

  • If necessary, you can reposition and resize the callout by clicking and dragging the callout on the Timeline.

Creating Custom Callouts

Camtasia Studio allows you to add your own graphics (BMP, GIF, PNG and JPG) as Custom Callouts.

  • On the Callout Properties task page, click Custom Callouts to open the Custom Callout Manager.

  • Click the New Custom Callout button and browse to find the image you want to add as a custom callout.

  • Your callout will appear in the Custom Callout Manager. You can give it a name.

  • You can add text to your Custom Callout, but it is important to adjust the Text indent option to make sure the text is only displayed in the areas you want it to.

Here are two examples, one without and one with adjusted text indentation:

  • When you have finished adjusting the properties, click OK.
  • Your new Callout is added to the Callout type list and can be used like any of the other Callouts.
