About the Canvas

The canvas displays the current frame in the video at the location of the playhead on the timeline. The canvas allows you to control the size, position, and rotation of media within the video.

Any portion of the media located outside the highlighted canvas area will not be included in the final video.

Change the Canvas Dimensions

For best results, set the dimensions of the canvas to the recommended dimensions for your desired sharing destination. Camtasia exports the video at the canvas dimensions.

  1. Select Edit > Adjust Canvas.
  2. The canvas controls appear under the canvas. Enter the dimensions you plan to export your video (in pixels) into the Width and Height fileds or select a common export dimension from the Preset menu.
    Adjust canvas controls
  3. Click Apply.

Set the canvas scale to 100% in the canvas dropdown to preview how your video will look exported at the current canvas dimensions.
