Record a Presentation

See how to record a presentation—from start, to finish.

Basic Steps of Recording

Here are the basic steps to record a presentation. Each step is broken down and explained in-depth below.

  1. Open Camtasia Relay on your computer.
  2. Log in to your account or identify yourself as a guest.
  3. Select a profile and audio input. Make a test recording to verify settings.
  4. Click the Record (REC) button, and give your presentation as normal.
  5. Stop the recording and click Submit, or if you are running the Camtasia Relay portable recorder, click Save

In-Depth Look at Recording

  1. The following is a closer look at the steps to record your presentation.
    Launch Camtasia Relay. (Default location is in the Applications folder.)
  2. Log in with your username and password, or identify yourself as as a guest recording for someone else.

You do not have to log in prior to recording, but you must log in as a user or identify yourself as a guest before you can upload or save your presentation.

To record a presentation:

  1. Launch Camtasia Relay.
  2. Log in with your username and password. If you do not know your username or password you can Record as a Guest.
  3. login screen
  4. Select a Profile. If you do not know what Profile to select, choose Upload and Decide Later.

  6. Select the audio device from the audio input dropdown menu.

  8. Select which screen to record if using a projector displaying a different screen or multiple displays. Adjust the audio level in it appears very low (green) or very high (red).

  10. Enter presentation title and description.

  12. Make a test recording to verify the audio and screen selection.

  13. Click the record button. The recorder is minimized to the system tray.

  15. Give your presentation. Camtasia Relay records everything on your screen and the selected audio.
  16. Stop the recording using a hotkey or right-click (control-click) the icon in the System Tray (Windows) or Dock (Mac). There may be a delay as the recording is finalized. The recording opens in the Camtasia Relay Preview window.

  18. Review the recording to verify the audio and video.
  19. If needed, click Trimming to set trim points to cut out extra video at the beginning and end of the presentation.Access Trimming
  20. Click the Submit button. Learn about the status of your presentation.

The presentation is uploaded to the Camtasia Relay server if you are connected to the Internet. You will receive an email when your presentation is published. If you are not connected to the Internet, the recording automatically starts uploading when you connect to the Internet.
