Home / Learning Center / The SnagIt Views
SnagIt has a total of three different views, each having its own unique look. And, while each view provides you with the same functionality for taking captures and working with the companion applications, how that functionality is accessed is different. Normal ViewThe Normal View is the default view of SnagIt. When you first install SnagIt and start it up, you will be in Normal View. There are many benefits to working within the Normal View. For instance, you can take your captures faster, create and save profiles easier, and access the companion applications and wizards quickly from the tabbed screens. If you have changed to another view, to see the Normal View again, choose View > Normal View. Classic ViewFor those who are familiar with SnagIt, the Classic View is the previous view of SnagIt prior to SnagIt 7. Overall, the Classic View gives access to a single profile which is the current capture settings. In this view, you need to change your input, output, etc. settings whenever you need to perform a different capture. The Input, Output, and Filters options are located in the menus on the menu bar. There is also a Mode menu, which contains the same capture modes as found in the side toolbar, that was not in the original Classic View. To capture within the Classic View, simply select your input, select your output, and choose any other options or filters and then click on the Capture button. For all information on particular options pertaining to capturing, see that specific topic within the online help. To see the Classic View, choose View > Classic View. Compact ViewThe Compact View of SnagIt takes up minimal screen space allowing you to keep SnagIt out of the way on your screen but open and available for use when needed. Within this view, the large side toolbar buttons and summary area are hidden. To capture within the Compact View, simply select your input, select your output, and choose any other options or filters and then click on the Capture button. For all information on particular options pertaining to capturing, see that specific topic within the online help. To see the Compact View, choose View > Compact View. |
