Arranging, Importing, and Exporting your SnagIt Profiles

Often times you will want to rearrange the Profiles within the Profile Pane, share a Profile with a co-worker, or, back up your Profiles. The Organize Profiles options allow you to:

  1. Change the order of your capture Profiles within the Profile Pane.
  2. Import a single Profile.
  3. Import a group of Profiles.
  4. Export a single Profile.
  5. Export all Profiles within the Profile Pane.

To access the Organize Profiles options, from the main SnagIt interface, choose File > Organize Profiles or right-click on any Profile and choose Organize Profiles from the popup menu.

The Organize Profiles dialog box will display.

The following table describes the options contained within the Organize Profiles dialog box.

Tool Option Description & Use
Move Up

Choose this option to move a Profile up in the list.

Highlight a Profile and then choose Move Up until the Profile is in the desired position.

Note: Profiles can be moved up into new groups using this option.

Move Down

Choose this option to move a Profile up in the list.

Highlight a Profile and then choose Move Down until the Profile is in the desired position.

Note: Profiles can be moved down into new groups using this option.

Move to Group

Choose this option to move a Profile to a specific group.

Select the Profile that you want moved and then click the Move to Group button. A popup list of groups displays. From the list, select the group you want to move these Profiles into. Choose OK.

Delete

Choose this option to delete a Profile. Note: This is a permanent delete.

Highlight a Profile and then choose Delete. A confirmation dialog box will display. Choose Yes to delete. Choose No to exit without deleting.

Set Hotkey

Choose this option to create a hotkey for a Profile.

Highlight a Profile and then choose Set Hotkey. Enter the new hotkey and choose OK. For more information on Hotkeys, see Error! Reference source not found..

Rename

Choose this option to rename an existing Profile or group.

Highlight a Profile and then choose Rename. Enter the new name and choose OK.

Add Group

Choose this option to add a new group or folder to My Profiles.

The Add New Group dialog box displays. Enter a group name and choose OK. The group will be added to the Profile Pane.

Choose Cancel to exit without adding a group.

Import

Choose this option to import a single SnagIt Profile or a group of Profiles.

You will also be able to import a file containing several groups that were saved using SnagIt's Export All Profiles option.

Note: Single Profiles, one group of Profiles, or several groups of Profiles are contained in one single .snagprof file.

Note: When a Profile is imported into the Profile Pane, if there is an existing Profile that has the same name, the existing Profile is not overwritten. Instead, the imported Profile is simply added to the Profile group.

Export

Choose this option to export a single capture Profile or a group of Profiles. You will also be able to merge a file containing several groups that were saved using the Export All Profiles option.

Note: Single Profiles, one group of Profiles, or several groups of Profiles are contained in one single .snagprof file.

Export All Profiles

Choose this option to export, at one time, all of the Profiles contained within the Profile Pane. This is a fast and easy way to backup your Profiles.

Note: Single Profiles, one group of Profiles, or several groups of Profiles are contained in one single .snagprof file.

  Selected Profile Settings

This read-only file shows you the capture settings for the selected Profile.

These fields will be blank when a group is selected.

  Close

Choose this option to close the Organize Profiles dialog box.
