SnagIt Studio
| Product: |
SnagIt |
| Platform: |
Win 98 and above |
| Version: |
7 and above |
SnagIt Studio provides true vector-based image markup with
standard and custom shapes. Studio includes an expansive catalogue
with useful annotation objects and shapes such as arrows, logos, callouts,
text boxes, rubber stamps, captions, sticky notes and frames to help
explain your images.
You can easily add and re-position the catalog objects or create collections
of custom drawing shapes. Images can be quickly overlapped to create
a collage effect, or multiple images can be printed on a single page.
Once an image has been modified, it can be saved as a Studio
project for later changes.
-
Toolbar Options. On the toolbars, click on any
tool to perform that operation. Tool tips let you know what each
tool is. Toolbars are enabled from the View menu.
-
Catalogue. There are a number of standard catalogues
delivered with SnagIt Studio. These contain Stamps, Shapes,
Pointers, Clipart, Callouts, and Arrows. In addition, a blank catalogue

customized shapes.
-

these to add text, highlights, or shapes to your image. Click on
the color block to change the paint tool's color.

the canvas, each one can be customized by using the group, align,
move to front or back, size, rotate, or edit bitmap features.

Import Options
The Import Options dialog box allows you to set the SnagIt
Studio Document canvas size and position when you import an image.
The canvas size determines the dimensions of any images you export from
Studio. Choose File > Open >
Options, and the Import Options dialog box displays.
Note: By default, an imported image
opens in original (100%) size as the "background" layer. The
canvas size matches image dimensions. If you do change canvas size on
import, Studio imports images according to those dimensions
until you change the settings on the Import Options dialog
box.
The following table summarizes the description and use of each option
in the Import Options dialog box.
| Option |
Description & Use |
| Size canvas using |
At the top of the dialog, select the appropriate radio button
to size the new canvas using:
Image dimensions: choose this option to have
Studio automatically size the canvas to fit the pixel
dimensions of the image.

to specify the desired Width and Height in the boxes provided.
|
| Stretch image to fit |
If you selected to specify the dimensions of the Studio
canvas, you can also check the box to Stretch image to fit
the canvas. |

If you specify a canvas larger than the image you are importing,
you can define the image's position using the buttons in the

Saving Your Studio Work
When you are ready to save your work, select File
> Save or File > Save
As to save the image as a SnagIt Studio Document (.ssd)
file. Saving your capture as an .ssd file allows you to preserve all
of the object attributes. This way, you can open the capture again and
revise the text, resize a stamp, etc.
To save your work as an image file, select File >
Save or File > Save As
and select the desired file type. Studio can save
your document as a BMP, GIF, PCX, JPEG, PNG, TGA or TIF image.
Note: When a capture is saved in
another file format, any object attributes will be lost. That is, you
will no longer be able to revise the text or resize stamps, clipart,
etc.
