Apply an Annotation Filter
| Product: | SnagIt |
| Platform: | Win 98 and above |
| Version: | 7 and above |
You can use annotations to include a time/date stamp or other system-related data in the capture, and to create and customize the appearance of a text annotation, such as a title or caption. Annotations can be placed on the sides, top, or bottom of a capture. You can also customize the font, color, and placement of your annotations.
SnagIt gives you the option of creating a customized Annotation capture filter. This filter adds a caption or annotation, formatted to your specifications, during the capture process.
Within SnagIt, choose the Filters button to see the dropdown menu of options.
Choose Annotation, and the Image Annotation dialog box will display.
Place a checkmark next to Enable Caption, then customize your Annotation and choose OK.
You will be back at the main SnagIt view. Set your Input and Output capture options.
Choose the Preview Window button from the Options toolbar.
Click on the Capture button to invoke capture.
Once the capture is taken, it will be displayed within the Preview Window with the customized Annotation filter applied to it.
Choose Finish to send your capture to the output source. Or, choose Cancel to delete the capture.
Tip: Once you have taken a capture and viewed it with the Preview Window to ensure that it is the exact filter that you desire, then you can always disable the Preview Window option so you no longer have to view the capture in the Preview Window each time you take a capture.
Tip: To disable an Annotation filter, click the Filters button, and then choose Annotation. Within the Image Annotation dialog box, remove the checkmark from the Enable Caption option.
Annotation Options
Note: The length of the text string in an annotation or caption is limited by width of the image or by the width of the printed page. The text is truncated if it is too long.
