Seattle Pacific University Adopts TechSmith’s Camtasia Relay for its Lecture Capture Solution to Boost Student Achievement
After Beta Program, Camtasia Relay chosen for Ease of Use, Scalability and Affordability
OKEMOS, MI — March 26, 2009 TechSmith Corporation, the world’s leading provider of screen capture and recording solutions, announced today that Seattle Pacific University (SPU) has selected Camtasia Relay, the company’s newest lecture capture and presentation solution, as its campus-wide lecture capture solution. By integrating with an academic institution, business or conference organizer’s existing media servers and learning management systems, Camtasia Relay is an affordable solution for organizations looking to share knowledge in a multimedia format with students, customers and colleagues department-wide or campus-wide.
“After being a Camtasia Relay beta tester, we decided to deploy it campus-wide. We feel confident that we are now providing SPU’s faculty with an easy-to-use, flexible and affordable solution that enhances our learning environment,” said David Wicks, Director of Instructional Technology at SPU. “We’ve seen a positive response from the faculty members that have already begun using Camtasia Relay. A significant benefit is that Camtasia Relay offers our instructors the ability to capture content in any classroom on their own computers and to offer them to SPU students in a variety of convenient ways suited to their media preferences.”
SPU is planning on slowly rolling out Camtasia Relay and it will shortly be available to its entire campus which encompasses 343 faculty and staff and more than 3,800 students. Currently, more than 20 of SPU’s faculty and staff are using Camtasia Relay and over 500 students are already accessing the lectures on-demand.
“We greatly appreciated all the valuable feedback SPU gave as beta testers and are extremely excited that they have decided to select Camtasia Relay as their lecture capture solution,” said Camtasia Relay product manager Rich Boys. “It’s clear that universities and colleges are looking for a lecture capture solution their faculty and students can easily learn and will want to use, and Camtasia Relay gives them that.”
Camtasia Relay is designed so instructors and presenters can easily record live lectures, learning objects, or presentations and publish them automatically so the videos are available in the highest- quality formats for a broad audience. Users can also edit their captured lectures and presentations with Camtasia Studio, which is already used by thousands in the education community.
With Camtasia Relay, instructors and presenters can use any PC or Mac in the classroom or conference room, at their desk, or at home. Audiences can view and listen to the recorded lectures and presentations online, via learning management systems like Blackboard, via iTunes U, or on mobile devices such as the iPod or iPhone. And with LDAP integration, IT staff can quickly and easily set up and assign recording profiles for their organizations based on the needs of the presenter and their audience.
