Snagit Hotkeys Guide
Quickly reference the shortcuts in Snagit and learn how to customize the capture shortcuts.
In this tutorial:
Customize Shortcuts
Tip: Change the capture hotkey in the Capture window.
In the Capture window, click the shortcut field under the Capture button and press the desired key combination on the keyboard. To learn more, see Change the Global Capture Hotkey.
Complete the following to view the keyboard shortcuts available for customization and to make changes:
Windows
- In the Capture window, select File menu > Capture Preferences > Hotkeys tab.
- Select the desired shortcuts.
- Check Allow Snagit to override other hotkey assignments to avoid shortcut conflicts with other applications when running Snagit.
- Click OK.
Click Restore Defaults to reset to the default shortcuts.
Mac
- In Snagit Editor, select Snagit menu > Settings > Keyboard tab.
- Click the button for the keyboard shortcut to change.
- Complete one of the following options:
- Press the desired key combination on the keyboard to assign a new shortcut.
- Click the arrow icon
to cancel the change. - Click the X icon
to delete the assigned shortcut.
Shortcuts are saved automatically.
Click Restore Shortcuts to reset to the default shortcuts.

On Windows, shortcuts are assigned to the first ten positions in the Snagit Editor toolbar. Press Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9 to select the tool in that position.
