Recording Files<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\"TREC Camtasia Recording File Format (TREC)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The file format generated after recording in Camtasia Recorder. A TREC stores audio, screen recording, camera recording, and metadata (e.g. cursor data). TREC files can only be opened in Camtasia Editor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camtasia automatically names and saves the recordings to a default folder on your computer. You can set Camtasia Recorder to prompt you to enter a file name and location after each recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By default, Camtasia Recorder saves TREC recordings to: C:\\Users\\username\\Documents\\Camtasia.<\/p>\r\n

  1. In Camtasia Recorder, select Tools > Preferences<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n
  2. The Recorder Preferences dialog appears. Click the Files<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\r\n
  3. Select the Prompt for file name<\/strong> option.<\/li>\r\n

    By default, Camtasia Recorder saves TREC recordings to: Users\/username\/Movies\/Camtasia\/Temporary Recordings.<\/p>\r\n

      Rev media combines the recording streams (screen, camera, and audio) from the TREC recording file into a single package on the timeline for simplified editing.
