And once you figure out which one to use, making sure you&#8217;re using it correctly is a whole other challenge. But never fear; we&#8217;re here to help you on your audio journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we&nbsp;look at mics, we often see how they&#8217;re used.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Voiceover Work:&nbsp;<\/strong>Desktop condenser microphones with a USB or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/XLR_connector\">XLR<\/a>&nbsp;connection is great for voiceovers. However, you can also use a lapel, a shotgun, or a headset microphone. If possible, avoid your device&#8217;s built-in microphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On-Camera Work:<\/strong>&nbsp;Lapels &#8211; wired or wireless &#8211; are both great for on-camera work (both 3.5 mm and XLR). They are easy to place and can be hidden so they don&#8217;t block the speaker. Shotgun microphones are also great for on-camera work, as they are not shown, and provide flexibility&nbsp;to record more than one person on camera at a time. Again, avoid your device&#8217;s built-in microphone.
