Using the Snagit Library to Organize Captures

The Library shows your capture history. To open the library, click the Library tab in Snagit Editor. Snagit automatically tags and organizes captures based on metadata. Captures are categorized by:

  • Capture Type
  • Recent Captures: Captures taken in the past four weeks and any files viewed or saved in Snagit.
  • Date (Year and Month)
  • Applications: All applications Snagit captured from
  • Websites: All websites Snagit captured from
  • Tags: List of tags assigned to captures in Snagit
  • Flags: Flag icons assigned to captures in Snagit

Search for Captures

Enter a search term in the search field. You can search by file name, by application or website captured from, by flags, or by tags.

Add Tags to Organize Captures

Assign tags to captures to help group or find captures easily at a later time. For example, you can add keywords based on captures taken while searching for a house to mark the houses that included the desired amenities and grouped by their price range.

  1. Open Snagit Editor and select the Library tab.
  2. Click to select a capture in the library.
  3. To assign a tag, complete any of the following:
    • In the Tags field, type a keyword.
    • To enter a keyword that contains multiple words, place quotation marks around the phrase.

    • To assign an existing tag, click the Tags dropdown and select the desired tag.

Assign Flags to Organize Captures

Flags are visual icons assigned to captures. Flags appear on capture thumbnails in the library and in the tray.

  1. Open Snagit Editor and select the Library tab.
  2. Click to select a capture in the library.
  3. On the Library tab, click to assign the desired flag(s).

Find Detailed Information About a Capture

Click the Capture Details button in the bottom left corner of Snagit Editor to view the metadata information collected for a capture.
