02: Taking Your First Video Capture

Video capture records the action on the screen and audio (from a microphone or system audio) as a MPEG-4 video file. Use Snagit videos to:

  • Walk someone through a process or issue.
  • Record a demonstration or how-to video.
  • Provide enhanced feedback. Give audio feedback while recording a video stepping through the content on the screen.
  • Record a small portion of a video to playback in a presentation.

Select the Video Recording Area

Snagit offers the flexibility to record a video of anything on your screen. Select to record the entire screen, a specific region or window, or at standard video dimensions. Learn how to adjust the recording area to get exactly what you need.

  1. Open or set up what you want to capture.
  2. Move your cursor over the Capture window. The Capture window expands.
