Match Colors Using the Color Picker

The Color Picker allows you to match the fill, outline, and text colors of the Drawing Tools to any color on your screen.

When to Use the Color Picker Tool

  • Matching colors from an image, website, graphic, or document
  • Following brand guidelines
  • Covering up tooltips, mistakes, or unwanted portions of a screenshot
  • Creating a mock-up using specific colors

To Select Fill and Outline Colors

  1. In Snagit Editor, select the tool you would like to use from the Tools tab.

  2. In the Properties pane, double-click to select the Outline color (top circle) or Fill color (bottom circle).

  3. Select the color picker.

  4. The cursor appears as a magnifying glass.

  5. Move the cursor over the desired color on the screen and click to select the color.

  6. Draw the shape and the Fill or Outline will match the color selected.

To Select Text Color

  1. In Snagit Editor, select Tools tab > Callout.

  2. Select a Callout Style from the styles gallery or adjust the callout options to create a custom callout.

  3. Click and drag to draw a callout.

  4. Select the Font button in the Properties pane.

  5. In the Fonts dialog, click the Text Color button.

  6. Click the magnifying glass to select a color from your screen.

  7. The cursor appears as a magnifying glass.

  8. Move the cursor over the desired color on the screen and click to select the color.

  9. Enter text into the callout. The text color matches the selected color.
