Capture text with Snagit
Snagit is about so much more than screenshots. Use the Grab Text feature to capture text and extract it from images.
Snagit uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to analyze the letters and words in an image, and then convert them to text.
Capture an image and extract text
To extract text from a screenshot, open the Capture Window, choose the Image tab, and then set the selection to Grab Text. Or, to speed things up, open the Presets and choose the Grab Text preset. Assign the preset a hotkey for quick access on-the-fly.
Use the crosshairs to select the region of your screen with the text you want to extract.
Extract text from an image
Use Grab Text to capture text from an imported image or an older image from your Snagit library.
With the image open on the Canvas, go to the Edit menu and select Grab Text. Or, simply right- or control-click on the image, and select Grab Text.
Ways to use Grab Text
Use Grab Text to quickly get a list of file or folder names as text, extract text from a webpage, or any time you have a window or image where you can’t select the text.
