Media accessibility is becoming increasingly important with each passing day. We know you may not always have time to caption your videos yourself, but perhaps your organization has designated individuals to help with video captioning. Or maybe you have a teaching assistant or trusted student willing to help you out. In any case, TechSmith Relay makes it easy for you to assign caption editors for your videos.
You can assign videos for captioning from either the video view page or the Activity tab.
Assign a Caption Editor from the Video View Page
- Log into TechSmith Relay. Then, from your media library, select the video you’d like to assign to someone else for captioning.
- On the video view page, select Closed Captioning.
Note: The Closed Captioning options are not available for videos added via YouTube.
- Click the Add Assignee button.
A dialog box will appear. Enter the email address* of the user you’d like to assign as the caption editor. If you'd like to generate speech-to-text captions, check the option below the email address field. Then click Apply.
*The assignee must already have a TechSmith Relay account to be assigned videos for captioning. They will receive an email letting them know a video has been assigned. If you choose to generate speech-to-text captions, the assignee will receive a separate email when the generated captions are ready for review.
If you’d like, you can use your Activity view to monitor the status of your video captions:
For more on the Activity tab, see below.
