Recording a Webcam (optional)

The TechSmith Relay Recorder can record full-frame webcam video. This feature is great for personal intro videos or for showing off a little bit of your human side in between slides. You can record a webcam-only video, or toggle back and forth between webcam and screen content during recording.

Select a Webcam

  1. Click the webcam selector.

Recording Your Screen

The TechSmith Relay Recorder captures all of the screen action on a single monitor, or a sub-region of that monitor. This is great for recording slideshows, websites, or anything else you can show on a computer screen.

Select a Screen Area to Record
  1. Choose between Region or Fullscreen recording.

Note: If you have multiple monitors, choosing "Fullscreen" will always record your primary monitor. Check your system settings to determine - or change - which of of your displays is considered the primary display.
  2. Click Record.

  3. If you chose Region as your screen area, yellow crosshairs will appear. Use the crosshairs to drag out a specific recording region on your screen.

Tip: If you chose Region as your screen area, you'll also see a small Fullscreen button near the top of your screen.

Clicking this button will select your entire screen. For this reason, you may find it easiest to always select "Region" as your screen area when starting a new recording, as it easily lets you change your mind and record fullscreen on the fly.

Once you're happy with your screen recording area, click the Record button on the recording controls.

Preview Your Recording

After you finish recording your video, it opens in the Preview Window and begins to play back. We recommend at least checking to make sure you've captured audio at an sufficient volume. From here you can Upload your video to TechSmith Relay, or Cancel your recording if it didn't turn out quite right.
