IBM Boosts Value of Corporate Training Conference with Camtasia Studio
Benefits realized:
- Conference content reaches thousands more employees
- Sessions captured as rich, engaging video
- Training can be reviewed any time, anywhere
Every year, nearly 20,000 IBM employees from all over the world converge in the United States for Software University. This training conference gives IBM sales and marketing staff a chance to learn from one another and from the company's software developers.
The week-long conference boasts well over 2,000 sessions—which means attendees can't make it to every session of interest. And information overload is a real problem, as any conference attendee can attest.
The solution is to record the sessions and make them available on-demand to IBM employees and business partners worldwide. These authentic screen capture videos give viewers the experience of "being there" at sessions they missed or want to review.
The videos are downloaded and viewed tens of thousands of times, massively increasing the value of the conference at very little additional cost.
"You want to see it, hear it, and experience it -- as it is. That’s when the real learning occurs. That’s what Camtasia can offer." - John McDonald America’s Software Architect Community Leader and Business Unit Executive Product Introduction and Exploration, IBM
IBM preloads Camtasia Studio screen recorder on conference presenters' IBM ThinkPad notebook computers. Presenters then click a button to record high-quality audio plus anything on their the screen: applications, Web pages, spontaneous annotations, and Microsoft PowerPoint slides (including animation, embedded video, audio, and transitions).
These screen recordings are converted to crystal-clear Flash video and posted on IBM servers for employees worldwide. Videos from the 2005 event have been downloaded more than 50,000 times, which shows just how popular and useful the material is.
Video Screen Capture Helps IBM Customers, Too
IBM's great success with using Camtasia Studio at Software University prompted the company to roll out the Camtasia screen recorder, along with a step-by-step user’s guide, to its technical salesforce. They now use Camtasia Studio to create software demonstrations and video tutorials for customers, partners, and colleagues worldwide.
