Share Captures
Learn how to quickly copy and paste, send, or share your capture files to a wide variety of applications and destinations.
Copy and Paste
Copy an image or video to your clipboard, with any added callouts, arrows, or other additions, to paste into another application.
- Click Copy All.
- In the desired application, press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+V (Mac) to paste the image or video.
Get a Shareable Link
The Share Link button uploads your image or video to Screencast, our cloud-based solution for collaboration and feedback – free with your TechSmith Account.
Alternatively, if your company or IT administrator deployed Snagit, the Share Link button may be customized to share to OneDrive (Windows only) or Google Drive instead of Screencast.
- Click Share Link.
Snagit uploads the file to Screencast, OneDrive (Windows only), or Google Drive, and copies a link to your clipboard. - Paste the link into an email or another application to share.

Note: When sharing to Screencast and some other destinations, Snagit creates a descriptive title that includes source information such as the name of the file or web page captured.
To turn off descriptive file names, complete one of the following:
- Windows: In Snagit Editor, select Edit > Editor Preferences > Share tab > Do not include capture source in shared file names and titles option.
- Mac: Select Snagit menu > Settings > Share tab. Uncheck the Include capture source in shared file names and titles option.
Share to a Specific App or Location
- In Snagit Editor, click to select a capture in the Recent Captures Tray.
- Click the Share Link dropdown or Share dropdown and select a destination.
Snagit disables any share destinations in the Share menu that do not support the selected file type.
You may be prompted to sign in and allow Snagit access to your account or application before you can share to a specific destination.
Tip: Save time sharing with capture presets and a customized toolbar.
Create a preset to automatically send an image or video to a share destination after capture. Or add a specific share destination to your Editor toolbar. See Save Capture Settings as Presets and Customize the Snagit Toolbar.
Default Share Destinations
Note: If a share destination is missing, see Add or Remove a Share Destination.
For many destinations, you will be prompted to sign in and allow Snagit permission to share.

To add or remove share destinations from the Share Link dropdown and the Share menu:
Windows
- In Snagit Editor, select Edit > Editor Preferences > Share tab.
- Click a checkbox to enable or disable a specific destination.
Mac
- Select Snagit menu > Settings > Share tab.
- In the Share Settings dialog, complete one of the following:
- To add a destination, click the
button and select an option from the list.
- To remove a destination, click to select an option in the list, then click the
button.
- To add a destination, click the
Customize a Share Destination
Customize share destinations to:
- Save or change your account settings.
- Change the privacy level of shared content.
- Change the default folder where your image or video is saved.
- Add a custom name for a share destination (Mac only).
- Add a shortcut for your share (Mac only).
To customize a share destination:
- In Snagit Editor:
- Windows: Select Share Link dropdown > Preferences > Share Preferences.
- Mac: Select Share Link dropdown > Preferences.
- Select a share destination from the list.
- Customize the share settings if available.
- Close the Preferences dialog.
