Stamp Tool

Annotate your image with stamps from a variety of categories.

Note: Stamp and other tools in the Snagit Editor toolbar are available to annotate images. To draw your viewer’s attention while you record video, try Screen Draw. To enhance video you have already recorded, share your video to TechSmith Camtasia.

Add a Stamp to an Image

  1. Click the Stamp tool in the Snagit Editor toolbar.

    Note: If the tool is not visible in the toolbar, click the More dropdown. To customize your toolbar, see Customize the Snagit Toolbar.

  2. In the Quick Styles, select a stamp category from the dropdown or enter a search term. Click to select a stamp.

  3. Click the canvas to add the stamp.
  4. Complete any of the following to edit the stamp:
    • Click and drag to move the stamp.
    • Click and drag a handle to resize the stamp.
  5. When you are finished with the Stamp tool, click the Move tool in the toolbar to select, move, edit, or delete objects you added to your image.

Download Stamps

TechSmith Assets for Snagit has hundreds of free stamps to add a fun, polished, professional touch to your content.

Windows

  1. Click the Stamp tool in the Snagit Editor toolbar.

  2. In the Quick Styles panel, click the Download More button.
  3. On the Assets website, browse or search stamp sets. Hover over a set to preview the stamps.
  4. On the desired set, click the Send to Snagit icon.

    Snagit opens the stamp set in the Quick Styles panel.

Mac

  1. Click the Stamp tool in the Snagit Editor toolbar.

  2. In the Quick Styles panel, click the Download More button.
  3. In Assets, browse or search stamp sets.
  4. On the desired set, click the Download button in Snagit Assets on Mac download icon.

  5. On the downloaded set, click the Open button.

    Snagit Editor opens the stamp set in the Quick Styles pane.

Create Custom Stamps

Import image files such as JPGs, PNGs, and GIFs to use as stamps, or save an image captured or created with Snagit as a custom stamp (Mac only).

Import a File to Stamps

  1. On Windows, select Stamp tool > Organize Stamps button > Add Stamp button. On Mac, select Stamp tool > Import Stamps.
  2. Browse to select an image and click Open.
    Snagit adds the image to My Stamps (Windows) or Custom (Mac).

Save As Stamp (Mac only)

  1. In Snagit Editor, click to select a capture in the recent captures tray.
  2. Select File > Save As Stamp.
    Snagit adds the image to Custom.

Tool Properties

Edit the properties to customize the tool.

Tip: Edit all stamps together (Mac only).

To change all Stamp objects at the same time, in Tool Properties click Select All Stamps. Then edit the tool properties as needed. You must have Snagit for Mac version 2025.3.0 or later.

Shadow
Click to select a shadow direction. To turn off the shadow, click to deselect the shadow direction.

Advanced Shadow Properties
Click the dropdown arrow to access additional Shadow properties:

  • Color: Select a color for the shadow.
  • Angle: Set the direction of the shadow extending from the tool.
  • Distance: Increase/decrease the distance between the tool and the shadow.
  • Opacity: Increase/decrease the transparency of the shadow.
  • Blur: Increase/decrease the clarity of the shadow.

Drag the slider to adjust the transparency level.

Tip: Save tool customizations as Quick Styles.
