Apply Quick Layouts & Effects with Camtasia Rev

Start a New Camtasia Rev Recording

1. Open Camtasia.
2. Click New Recording Camtasia Rev.
   
3. Camtasia Recorder opens. Set up your desired recording settings. See Build Your First Video. Make sure the Camtasia Rev option is enabled.
   
4. Click the Record button.

After recording, a preview of the recording opens in Camtasia Rev.

Apply Rev Layouts & Effects to Imported Media in a Project

The Import to Camtasia Rev option helps to quickly apply a consistent look and layout across media in your video.

If you have previous Camtasia recordings or footage recorded by others, you can can import the media into Camtasia Rev to apply a similar look and layout across scenes throughout your video project.

1. Select Media tab > Media Bin subtab.
2. Click the button and select Import Media to add content to the Media Bin in your project.
3. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click the media in the Media Bin and select Import to Camtasia Rev.
4. The media opens in Camtasia Rev. Select the desired customizations. See Accelerate Video Creation with Camtasia Rev Customizations.

   Note: The Size tab is disabled if your project already contains media on the timeline. Camtasia sets the size to the current canvas dimensions in the video project.

5. Click Edit in Camtasia to continue editing.

Apply Rev Layouts & Effects to Prerecorded Media

Now you can access Camtasia Rev at any time, not just from Camtasia Recorder. Open previously recorded footage and recordings in Camtasia Rev to accelerate video creation.

1. Open Camtasia.
2. Click Import to Camtasia Rev.
3. Select the media and click Open.
   

   Note: Camtasia Rev supports various video, image, and audio file formats. We recommend importing an unedited Camtasia Recording file (.trec) to access all of the layouts and effects available in Camtasia Rev based on the rich recording data collected in this file format, such as camera, screen recording, and cursor data.

4. Camtasia Rev opens. Select the desired customizations. See Accelerate Video Creation with Camtasia Rev Customizations.
5. Export your video directly from Camtasia Rev, or click Edit in Camtasia for further editing and enhancements. See Basic Edits after Recording.
