This success story provides insight into a real-life customer project and shows how modern documentation processes and standardized tools can enable more efficient, consistent workflows and improved knowledge transfer.
In Germany, as in many other countries, IT service and system providers play a vital role in supporting businesses with digitization. Especially small and medium-sized companies often lack the resources, capacity and expertise required to initiate and implement digitization programs on their own. They rely on system providers which can offer the products, services and expertise needed. To remain competitive and successful in a dynamic market landscape, companies constantly need to prove and expand their ability to innovate – especially in key areas such as AI, cloud technology, IT security and the digital workplace.
They also have to deal with other challenges such as expanding sales channels, exploring new markets, attracting and retaining talent and, last but not least, efficient knowledge building and knowledge management. All of that requires scalable, resilient IT infrastructure and the tools and solutions that are up to the specific tasks.
Bechtle AG has a deep understanding of these requirements. The company, with headquarters in Neckarsulm in Baden-Württemberg, is Germany’s largest IT system house and one of the leading European IT service providers. Founded in 1983, it now has a workforce of more than 16,500 staff, working at over 120 sites in 14 countries throughout Europe. The portfolio of Bechtle AG includes technology concepts and end-to-end IT solutions for digital transformation – ranging from complete IT workstations through data centers and multi-Cloud solutions to IT security, AI and managed services.
The initial condition: a variety of visual content tools and lack of standardization
As Bechtle AG was building and refining its digital infrastructure and processes, documentation and customer support requirements were also increasing. Because the company needed to create instructions, training materials, support guidelines and in-house communications, they had an ever-growing demand for high-quality visual content such as screenshots, step-by-step instructions and short video clips. The various divisions within the company had historically used different tools and workflows had not been standardized.
Over time, these heterogenous tools and processes were pushed to their limits by the increasing scalability, quality and efficiency requirements. Content presentation was not consistent, and the tools did not offer the necessary capabilities, such as automatic generation of step-by-step documentation, or video capture. As a result, creating, editing and managing visual content took a lot of time and effort.
The solution: Snagit – a unified, centralized solution
To fulfill their requirements, Bechtle AG ultimately settled on Snagit, which did offer the required functionality and had been well known within the company for years. As a long-time distributor of Snagit, Bechtle had been working with customers and acquired comprehensive hands-on experience with the solution. Snagit had proven its ability to meet requirements reliably. So it looked like the ideal candidate for the planned company-wide roll-out. Snagit is all about ease-of-use. It enables users to capture images or videos of their screens, annotate content, add instructions and narration and share the result with their team on commonly used platforms.
Bechtle chose Snagit over other solutions because it offers significantly more functions for screenshots, video clips and professional image and video editing, all in a single application. As a result, Bechtle was able to replace its array of legacy tools with a single, powerful solution and make the creation of visual content more effective and user-friendly throughout the entire company.

Installation and deployment: frictionless, thanks to clear structure and high level of automation
Since it first implemented Snagit in 2019, Bechtle has always used the latest version of the tool. The company is currently running Snagit 2026 on all its centrally managed Windows and macOS workstations. Upgrading always went smoothly and seamlessly, thanks to many years of close cooperation with TechSmith Corporation, knowledge gained from earlier implementations and rollouts, clear installation documentation and technical support from TechSmith experts in case of need.
Due to straightforward processes and a high degree of automation, installation requires minimal time and effort. For instance, Bechtle has set up a dedicated order form for the current version of Snagit on its internal service portal. The company then notified its staff via Microsoft Viva Engage and the in-house newsletter “Bechtle IT News”, and directed them to the new form.
Employees who work with Snagit could order the latest version on their own, and it was subsequently installed automatically on all relevant workstations in late October 2025. Existing older versions were removed during installation to prevent configuration issues. Installation and deployment were run and coordinated centrally by Bechtle AG’s Digital Workspace Team.
The response: thoroughly positive
Staff feedback on the new version of Snagit has been very positive again. Employees tasked with the creation of visual content for support documentation, training courses or in-house communications appreciate that they can now do this more easily and faster than ever before with the new Snagit, and that the results of their work have a more consistent and professional look. Snagit helps Bechtle to create visual content which is consistent and fully aligned with their corporate design, and to ensure efficient authoring and editing of documentation, training and support materials. Thanks to the TechSmith Business License, the solution is centrally deployed and easily accessible for all employees so that it can be used consistently across the entire company.
“The decision to choose Snagit has proven its worth time and again in day-to-day use”, says Ronny Wirth, Business Service Manager in the Digital Workspace Team at Bechtle AG. “The experiences and feedback from members of the specialist teams have been overwhelmingly positive. We’ve seen the added value of Snagit in our daily working life for years now. And our excellent partnership with TechSmith has played a crucial role here: Thanks to our long-standing and close cooperation, experiences with previous versions and the reliable support from TechSmith, the deployment of the latest version of Snagit has been a really smooth and seamless process.”
