Add an Assignee (Enterprise Only)

Learn to assign other users to manage accessibility options for your video content.

Easily assign someone else to caption your videos for accessibility in TechSmith Knowmia. The assignee can be anyone in your organization that has a Knowmia account, including assistants, students, etc. You can add an assignee from either the view page or the Accessibility tab.

Add an Assignee from the View Page

  1. Open a video that you want to caption.

    Select a video from the My Library page
  2. On the view page, select the Accessibility tab.

Note: The Accessibility tab is not available for videos added via YouTube.

  1. Click Add Assignee.

  2. Enter the email address of the user you want to give caption editing privileges and click Save. To generate speech-to-text captions, select the corresponding box below the email address.

*The assignee must already have a Knowmia account to be assigned videos. They will receive an email letting them know a video has been assigned. If you choose to generate speech-to-text captions, the assignee will receive a separate email when the generated captions are ready for review.

Click the Accessibility tab to monitor the status of your video captions, or to add/change an assignee.

  1. Click the Accessibility tab and select the video(s) you want to assign to a user.
  2. Select Add/Change Assignee in the Manage Assignees dropdown.
  3. Click Apply.

  4. A new dialog appears. Enter the email address of the user you want to give caption editing privileges and click Apply.

*The assignee must already have a Knowmia account to be assigned videos. They will receive an email letting them know videos have been assigned.

Note: Each video can only have one assignee. Assignees can also be added and removed by Caption Admins and Site Admins.

Removing Assigned Users

  1. Click the Accessibility tab and select the video(s) you want to unassign from a user.
  2. Select Remove Assignee in the Manage assignees dropdown.
  3. Click Apply.

  4. In the dialog box, click Remove to remove the assignee’s editing privileges.
