About the ExpressShow Output Files

If you choose a non-ExpressShow template in Camtasia Studio, producing to the Flash (SWF) format creates a large number of output files.

TechSmith simplified the sharing process by reducing the number of output files for ExpressShow productions. Now when you produce a Flash (SWF) video with the ExpressShow template, you get the following output file:

If you select the Embed Video into HTML option on the Video Options page, Camtasia Studio produces the following files in addition to the single SWF file:

Share your ExpressShow Production

Camtasia Studio creates the following output files with an ExpressShow production:

  • .html: Flash video file embedded in an HTML wrapper that opens in the viewer’s default Web browser.
  • .swf: Self-contained video that plays within the free, downloadable Adobe Flash Player. The single-swf file makes it easy to embed into a Web site, blog, or other multimedia project.
  • ProductionInfo.xml: You only need the XML file when uploading to Screencast.com. You do not need to include the XML file when sharing to other locations.
  • Swfobject.js

To include your video on a Web site or onto a Learning Management System (LMS):

  1. Copy the .html, .swf, and swfobject.js files onto a Web server.
  2. The video will not play properly if you only copy the .html file.

  3. Create a hyperlink from the Web site that points to the .html file on the Web server.
