Save PowerPoint Slides as Images
Want a little more flexibility in recording PowerPoint presentations? Instead of recording with the PowerPoint Add-in, save each PowerPoint slide as an image file, import the slides into Camtasia Studio, and then record voice narration. If you make a mistake in the voice narration or find a typo on a slide, you can easily fix the error without needing to record the presentation again.
Save PowerPoint Slides as Images
- Open the PowerPoint presentation.
- If you know the dimensions you plan to produce your Camtasia Studio video as, resize the PowerPoint slides to match. Use the chart below to convert the height and width (in inches) to the output dimensions (in pixels) for your final video. For example, if you plan to produce you final video at 640 x 480 pixels, use 6.67 as the Height field and 5 as the Width field.

In PowerPoint 2007, choose Design tab > Page Setup. In PowerPoint 2003 and earlier versions, choose File > Page Setup. Enter the height and width from step 2.

- To save the slides as images:
- In PowerPoint 2007, choose Office button > Save As > PowerPoint Presentation.
- In PowerPoint 2003 and earlier versions, choose File > Save As.
- The Save As dialog box appears. From the Save as type dropdown, select an image format (.bmp, .gif, .jpeg, .png) and click Save.

- Click Every Slide or Current Slide Only from the dialog that appears.

The slide(s) save to the file location selected in the Save As dialog box.
Record PowerPoint without the PowerPoint Add-in
After you save the PowerPoint slides as individual images, you can create your PowerPoint presentation.
- In Camtasia Studio, choose Import Media.

- The Open dialog appears. Select the image files saved from the PowerPoint presentation and click Open.
- The images of the slides import into the Clip Bin. Drag the images onto the Timeline in the desired sequence.
- The Project Settings dialog appears. Enter the dimensions into the Width and Height field and click OK.

- Click the Voice narration option from the Task List.

- Begin recording the voice narration. Click the Extend Current Frame button to extend the slide's duration to match the voice narration. To learn more about recording voice narration, see the Add Voice Narration tutorial.
- Click Finished.
